All our designs are created in house by Founder and Illustrator, Amy. Her inspiration comes from a love of animals and a desire to capture their special characters. Although Amy's designs don't feature obvious human traits or clothes, Amy's keen interest in anthropomorphism and the connection it conjures between animals and humans is a driving force behind many of her illustration. This alongside a love of story telling provides the rich context behind each piece. Each collection is capable of telling its own story.

Amy begins the design process by sketching initial ideas and thoughts. This stage is particularly messy and often sprawled across countless sketchbook pages.

Once initial ideas have been sketched out Amy loosely paints the shapes and develops the all important character of each creature/ person or whatever else is being created. Amy then meticulously hand paints each character with gouache and adds to each one with whatever medium suits. There's then a whole load of things that have to happen to get Amy's illustrations onto our various products- we'll share that with you in another blog!

Although Amy's time is mostly spent working on other areas of the business the design process remains of upmost importance and is continuously developing new ideas and designs.  Amy hopes her Illustrations bring a smile to your face and loves to create cheerful pieces.
